Central Maine Community College Precision Manufacturing Lab

Harriman assisted the Central Maine Community College with a comprehensive upgrade to its Precision Machine Tool Laboratory. The project entailed the re-configuration of approximately 5,000 sq. ft. of existing laboratories, classrooms and offices and the addition of 3,000 sq. ft. to accommodate state-of-the-art precision manufacturing equipment. Highlights of the renovation include an expanded quality control laboratory, student work area and computer laboratory. The design not only supports the expanding program, but showcases the possible career options and industry technologies.

Building systems were expanded to improve temperature and humidity requirements of the labs as well as comply with current life safety, building and accessibility codes.

Fueling collaboration and idea exchange

A dynamic mix of lab, learning and social spaces fuel a culture of collaboration and idea exchange. The project entailed the reconfiguration of 5,000 sf of labs, classrooms, offices, and student areas. The heart of the space is a nexus of break out and informal seating areas that encourage synergies across varied program elements. Transparent surfaces into the adjacent lab spaces help to reinforce connectivity and form a showcase for advanced technology that is a highlight of the campus tour.

We’d love to work on a project together.
