6, 2001 Harriman Associates opens Portland office Harriman Associates, a full-service architecture and engineering firm in Auburn, has opened a Portland office. "We've always emphasized a collaborative team approach that involves our clients," said Edward A. Cormier, president of the firm. "And this new office will facilitate communications with those who are in southern Maine and in other New England states." Located at 66 Pearl Street, Suite 301, the office is in the heart of the Old Port and is managed by Gregory D. Ninow, the firm's director of design. Six of the firm's 80 employees are assigned to the Portland office. "We felt it was very important to have a presence in Portland, since it's the largest city in the state, and since we have an increasing number of clients in Greater Portland," said Ninow. Among the firm's latest projects are the recently completed Maine Medical Center Research Institute in Scarborough and the new Noble High School in North Berwick, a 270,000-sq.-ft. facility that will be the largest high school in Maine when it opens this fall. Harriman Associates (www.harriman.com) has had its headquarters in the Lewiston-Auburn area since it was founded there in 1870 by George S. Combs, who was both an architect and an engineer. The firm has continued his legacy, providing both architecture and engineering design for education, health care, retail, and government clients, and has received local, regional and national recognition for its work. back to list |
