Although
this performing arts center is in a high school, its sophisticated systems
and high quality acoustics have made it a popular venue for professional
performances.
Lighting and sound systems are computer-controlled, with lights in a catwalk
as well as over the stage. Open sound and light booths in side balconies
allow technicians to see and hear activities on stage. And there is a full
rigging system to maneuver large pieces of scenery.
Covers in the front of the stage can be removed for an orchestra pit. And
a rehearsal room behind the stage can accommodate a 100-piece band.
The slope of the floor and the position of the seats ensures that every
seat in the house is a good one.
The lobby is drenched with light from a skylight and window wall. A 10-ft.
by 16-ft. mural of enameled tile adds a dramatic effect.
