A fire that tragically destroyed a school gave this small, rural town the
chance to create a new building that would both educate its children and
serve as a community center.
The gym, the cafeteria with its stage and kitchen, the library, and the
computer rooms are all located for easy public access.
With a red-brick exterior, cupolas, and gables, the design of the school
complements Litchfield's heritage. The school even has an historic iron
bell in a cupola on the roof over the main entrance.
Despite the emphasis on tradition, the school is wired for the next century
with a high-tech communications system with a fiber-optics backbone.
