This school serves
as a much-needed community center for this rural town of 200, in addition
to educating the town's two dozen elementary students.
Moveable shelving divides the space in two large classrooms, allowing
teachers to work with three to four classes in each room for physical
education and as a cafeteria, but the room is also the place where town
meetings and other community events are held.
The exterior design, with white clapboards, a brick-red roof, and gables,
blends well with traditional architecture in the town. Inside, two-story,
high-sloped ceilings, off-white walls, and birch wood accents provide
bright, airy spaces.
